Brooklyn's Beloved Biggie Mural Restored
The iconic two-story mural of the late rapper The Notorious B.I.G., located at the intersection of Bedford and Quincy in Brooklyn, has been saved from demolition thanks to a collaborative effort between local residents, community organizations, and celebrities.
The mural, which depicts Biggie Small's album cover for "Life After Death," has been a beloved landmark in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood for over two decades. However, it was recently threatened by plans to construct a new apartment building on the site.
Community members rallied together to preserve the mural, which they considered a symbol of Black culture and a tribute to Biggie's legacy. They launched a petition and organized protests, gaining support from celebrities such as rapper TI and the Brooklyn Nets basketball team.
In a heartwarming turn of events, the development company agreed to incorporate the mural into the new building design, ensuring its preservation for future generations. The restoration of the mural is currently underway and is expected to be completed soon.
