Las Palmas vs Athletic: Míchel praises Las Palmas' battling qualities after Athletic Club draw

Míchel was full of praise for his players after they battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw at home to Athletic Club on Sunday.

The result leaves Las Palmas third in the Segunda División table, three points behind leaders Burgos.

Las Palmas took the lead in the first half through Óscar Clemente, but Athletic levelled through Mikel Vesga after the break.

Míchel admitted that Athletic were the better side for much of the match, but was delighted with his team's spirit.

"We knew that Athletic were a very good team and that we would have to fight for everything," he said.

"I think we showed great character and determination to come back from a goal down and earn a point."

Míchel also praised the performance of Clemente, who scored his first goal for Las Palmas.

"Óscar is a very talented player," he said.

"He's still young and learning, but he has a great future ahead of him."

Las Palmas will now turn their attention to their next match, away to Lugo on Saturday.

Míchel knows that it will be another tough game, but he is confident that his team can get a result.

"We need to keep working hard and fighting for every point," he said.

"We know that we can beat anyone on our day, so we just need to keep believing in ourselves."
